About the role
Clarence Valley Council is seeking an experienced Communications Coordinator to develop and lead communications strategies that enhance the positive reputation of Council. This is an exciting opportunity to join Clarence Valley Council and shape the communications function.
The role will require somebody with strategic communications experience and the ability to deliver a Communications Plan for our team, including a review of internal processes, to ensure accurate, timely and relevant communications is delivered for our community. Implementing the plan, the role will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of communications across traditional and digital channels including developing relationship with media, generating media release, promotion of Council programs and events, website and social media management and delivery of Clarence Magazine to report on Council’s achievements against the Delivery Program. The role will require somebody who is resilient, adaptable and solutions focused and can problem-solve to find smart solutions to drive media and content that is transparent and engaging for our community. In addition, this role will support internal communications, contributing to making Council the best place to work. Evidence based decision making is crucial in this role and will require somebody who understands marketing and digital reporting to develop insights and recommendations for continual improvement.
About you - Ideally you will be degree qualified in the field of Communications (or similar) or have equivalent relevant experience in strategic communications and leading a small team. You will be a natural communicator and engage with internal and external stakeholders to lead and influence outcomes for the shared benefit of Council and the community. You like to take initiative and are looking for the opportunity to influence the strategic communications direction and continually improve processes that drive efficiency and effective communications. You will plan and prioritise and enjoy working as part of a small team – some days you will lead and inspire, while other days you’ll contribute to getting the work done. You will be a natural mentor and somebody who can support the team to grow. Working for a small Council, you will enjoy learning and will be provided with opportunities to continually grow and participate in projects across the organisation. Overseeing digital channels, you will be comfortable learning new technologies that contribute to achieving Council’s objectives.
