Full time maternity leave position available (commencing July 2025)Wycliffe Hope School is a Kindergarten to Year 12 Christian learning community with the specific focus of supporting and educating students who have a mild to moderate learning disability and/or have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (Level 1 or Level 2). Wycliffe Hope School is located centrally within the grounds of Wycliffe Christian School, and they together intentionally seek to live the narrative of ‘one learning community’.The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Head of School, classroom teachers and other teacher’s aides to support the implementation of effective and differentiated teaching and learning programs for students. This also requires a thorough understanding of neurodiverse learners and neuro-affirming practice in the school setting.We are looking for committed Christians of an evangelical persuasion who are active in their local church to join our staff team for a 12 month maternity leave position.Essential QualitiesBe deeply committed to Christian educationDemonstrate a passion for working with children who have diverse learning needs and a willingness to build relationshipsDemonstrate a sound understanding and willingness to engage with various ICT innovations in the classroom, including supporting students to work with an iPad during classImplement positive, person-centred behaviour support plans as needed, in collaboration with other relevant school and external staffDemonstrate flexibility in your ability to respond to current needs of studentsDuties and ResponsibilitiesAssess students’ skills and learning requirements and provide feedback as directed by classroom teachersCollaborate with school staff to create meaningful and respectful strategies for learningContribute to the implementation and regular reviews of student Individual Plans as part of a caseload team model.Support student interactions and needs in the playground as part of a roster systemWork closely with class teachers and other teacher’s aides to implement teaching programs and support students’ learningHelp students transition from one class to another, as applicableParticipate in regular staff meetingsExercise judgement and initiative to resolve issues encountered in routine relationships with students in collaboration with teaching staff, demonstrating an ability to model strategies that foster a strong sense of belonging and respectLead small group sessions at the discretion and direction of the classroom teacherSupport personal care requirements for students when directedPerform administration tasks such as preparing tasks/activities, laminating resources, photocopying, data entryHelp maintain classroom spaces alongside classroom teamsCommitment to a local church and the ethos of Christian education is essential.
