Gathering of demographic and financial information for billing, obtain height, weight, temperature and blood pressure, record information in chart for provider review.
Obtain urine samples, throat culture, perform fingerstick blood sugar and hemoglobin in addition to reason for visit and history of allergies.WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS :This is a full-time position.Part-time when specified by the Health Center Director.Must be able to work evenings and rotating Saturdays as scheduled.Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required in the event of vacation time or short staffing.May be required to work at any CCAP location.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :Receive and process patients, take vitals (BP, Wt., Ht., Pulse and Temp.
)Obtain and record patient data in EHR (Vitals, Social Hx's, PHQ's, Lab results)Urinalysis, hct, Hb A1c, blood glucose, lead tests and hCG (pregnancy test)Operate and maintain clinical equipmentScrub and sterilize instruments properly in autoclavePrepare patients for examinations and testsProperly dispose of medical waste and sharpsRegister and update patient informationSchedule appointmentsConfirm insurance eligibilityConfirm next day appointmentsProperly document in EMR ChartClean and stock roomsAssist providers in rooms as neededAlert appropriate person of supplies neededSecure department and end of shift if last to leave, unplug equipment, lock medication cabinets and shut off lights.Paperwork as neededFill out lab and state transmittalsFill out CVR'sOther duties as neededREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :High school diploma, or GEDMedical Assistant CertificationCurrent BLSOrganizational skillsExcellent communication skills for all levels of client, provider and colleague interactionProfessional telephone mannerProvide / maintain all required immunizations and / or vaccinationsComplete all required background checksPHYSICAL EFFORT / ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
