What you’ll do?
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Specialist to join our team. As a database specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing, optimising, and maintaining a diverse range of databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, Redis, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL and other cloud-database variants. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our database infrastructure while supporting various projects and initiatives. Furthermore, you will serve as the escalation point for all areas of the business for database support and work closely with the Database Product Lead to establish and maintain database build standards and reference architecture.
1. Manage, monitor, and maintain Oracle, SQL Server, Redis, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
2. Analyse and optimise database performance by identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, tuning queries, and implementing best practices for each database platform.
3. Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for each database platform
4. Security Management: Implement and enforce database security policies, access controls, and encryption mechanisms across all database platforms
5. Incident & Vulnerability Management
6. Database Design and Development: Collaborate with development teams to design, develop, and deploy database solutions that align with business requirements and performance standards for each database platform.
7. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve database-related issues and incidents across all database platforms in a timely manner.
8. Identify opportunities for automation and implement tools/scripts to streamline across all platforms
What you’ll bring?
9. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
10. Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or Database Specialist, with a focus on managing multiple database platforms, including Oracle, SQL Server,Redis, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
11. Strong proficiency in Oracle Database Administration and SQL Server Database Administration.
12. In-depth knowledge of database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques for each database platform.
13. Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery
14. Familiarity with database security principles and best practices, including role-based access control and encryption, for each database platform.
15. Experience in change management, incident management, and vulnerability management processes for databases.
16. Experience in database design, development, and implementation across multiple database platforms.
17. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and Google Cloud.
