Role
The Planning Information Services Branch manages the delivery, support and enhancement of all business technology, information services and systems including spatial systems and services. The team maintains and develops information and spatial systems to enable a high level of service to support the work of the Planning Group and the wider planning industry including local government.
The Senior Spatial Analyst role provides spatial services to a wide range of stakeholders, with a focus on strategic land use planning. The role provides high quality spatial analysis and cartographic output including the production of print-quality maps, working maps, and maps for the web. The Senior Spatial Analyst will foster effective partnerships and networks with peers to assist with producing maps for briefs, and some editing and creation of GIS data to use in maps.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
• Provide spatial services including GIS advice, cartographic output and contribute to land use planning projects, ensuring that the advice is suitable for its audience, factual and accurate.
• Provide project input as part of a team for one or more projects, policies, programs, processes, systems, stakeholder relationships, and/or pieces of legislation or regulation based on expertise.
• Assist with providing mapping services to the Planning Group including production of maps for print, web, and internal use, as directed.
• Create and edit GIS data, templates, layers and other material, as directed.
• Communicate technical and complex solutions to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work flexibly and collaboratively across the business to deliver business unit, group and DTP priorities and initiatives as required.
• Practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
• Experience using the ArcGIS suite of technologies (including but not limited to ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online)
Desirable
• A relevant qualification in Spatial, Computer Science or Urban Planning.
• A sound understanding of the Vicmap Foundational datasets
• Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud
• Proven ability to query, report and analyse data in enterprise databases and create automated workflows and processes
Highly Regarded
• Experience working with Avenza MAPublisher.
• Experience working with 3D spatial technologies.
• Experience using Python or FME including the use of scripts to solve spatial problems.
• An understanding of the Planning / Urban Planning domain
