The Melbourne Veterinary School is a recognised leader in equine limb injury prevention research, equine lameness investigation and advanced imaging and clinical services for poor performance investigation.
It offers a range of services, including imaging modalities including scintigraphy, standing CT, standing PET scanning, and high-field MRI.
The Equine Centre delivers high quality clinical veterinary education to DVM students through equine ambulatory services and hospital-based clinical services.
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Equine Medicine/Surgery, you will join the team responsible for the day-to-day assessment and management of both in-patient and out-patient horses, including emergency admissions and hospitalised horses outside regular hours.
You will contribute to clinical teaching to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students through practicals, lectures, and clinical rotations.
You will also work alongside the senior veterinary team to deliver high-quality patient and client care while contributing to the School's equine ambulatory service.

Your responsibilities will include: Provision of clinical services provided by the Equine Centre.Provide excellent care to patients and clients, ensuring that clinical teaching meets the standards of national and international accreditation bodies.Make independent, best practice and innovative contributions to teaching and learning at all levels, including workplace-integrated learning (clinical rotations) in DVM to enhance student learning and experience.Support DVM4 clinical rotations through provision of student inductions, clinical rounds, mentoring, being a point of contact for students and staff in the Equine Centre, collating and delivering formative and summative feedback to students.Work closely with clinical teams and individual clinical staff to ensure a high-quality student experience in a student-focused teaching and learning environment, ensuring all students acquire the required clinical competencies and intended learning outcomes.Deliver teaching and assessment in a variety of settings by conducting tutorials, lectures, practical demonstrations, seminars, computer-based learning exercises and laboratory-based workshops which may extend to individual consultations and provision of online resources.Who We Are Looking For You will have a strong background in equine clinical practice, with a deep passion for advancing the field, recognised expertise and advanced qualifications in a relevant clinical discipline.
You will be a strong team player, driven to contribute to the development of the next generation of veterinarians through mentorship and teaching.
A desire to make a meaningful impact in both clinical practice and education is key.
You will also have: Proven knowledge of and experience in the equine industry.An awarded Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree enabling registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria.Demonstrated experience in equine veterinary clinical practice and proven ability to manage a challenging and varied caseload.Excellent communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills, demonstrated by the ability to liaise effectively and relate well to a wide range of people in various situations and work successfully in teams.Your New Team - Melbourne Veterinary School The Melbourne Veterinary School is a highly ranked veterinary school with a proud tradition of excellence in research, education, and leadership.
