The Opportunity
The Passports Learning and Development Section (PLS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced eLearning Developer who is committed to making a difference in the development and performance of staff.
PLS is responsible for building professional and passport-centric operational capability nationally and across over 100 of the department's international posts.
In this role you will be responsible for providing high-quality development and administration of the online delivery elements of PLS and the Australian Passport Office (APO). This is an exciting opportunity to develop staff and programs that directly impact the operational success of staff within the APO in Australia, and to staff undertaking passport functions at overseas posts. The variety of work is interesting, challenging and varied.
Our Ideal Candidates
You have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and co-operatively with stakeholders, staff and their managers to ensure APO online training needs are met in a timely and professional manner. Your ability to understand complex technical environments and work to design robust and practical training solutions will be an advantage.
Demonstrated skills in the following technologies:
* Learner Management System (LMS) experience with Moodle and Oracle based systems
* Web design skills including HTML, HTML5, JavaScript and CSS and web authoring tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver
* Multimedia development including interactive learning objects with tools such as Adobe Premiere, Articulate 360 Storyline/Rise, Vyond and Videoscribe
* Graphic and visual design skills with Photoshop and Adobe Creative Cloud
* Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, Planner)
* Experience applying Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 to eLearning modules and online tools
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in developing eLearning material and packages
* The ability to build and maintain assessment tools and evaluation surveys in an LMS or external systems such as Survey manager.

Your duties and responsibilities will be aligned to the relevant APS Work Level Standards.
Your key duties will include:
* Provide high quality development and administration of the online delivery elements of APO Learning and Development
* Develop eLearning content and collateral using eLearning authoring tools, web authoring tools and eLearning technologies
* Modify and enhance existing eLearning packages using current and emerging technologies, applying knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices whilst remaining consistent with the concepts of operational areas that package is being developed for
* Create system videos with tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Premiere
* Coordinate review of current online learning packages for ongoing updates in line with the PLS governance process
* Design and develop online training on new and existing technology to colleagues and support staff
* Research and recommend new technologies in the field of online learning
* Contribute to the development of team objectives for short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term activities
* Lead, mentor, coach and develop immediate reports and promote a culture of respect, diversity and accountability.
