About the role The Course Advising Officer provides a developmental course advising service as part of a team, collaborating with students to understand their programs, identify challenges, align their studies with personal goals, and implement strategies for course completion, thereby improving student retention and success.
The team works with students in both individual and group settings, via phone, video call, email, and face-to-face interactions.
The team also supports the development, maintenance, and promotion of web-based self-service course advising resources.
The Course Advising Officer delivers a student-centred, evidence-based service, primarily targeted at students at high risk of non-completion, including those in Tiers 2, 3, and 4 of the Student Support Policy.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have: The ability to engage students with empathy, placing them at the centre of the experience.
A commitment to working collaboratively and respectfully with colleagues, even in challenging circumstances.
A commitment to professional development, including reflective practice.
Preferably, knowledge of UNE courses and services.
Experience with UNE student administration systems such as Oracle Service Cloud Student Relationship Management (SRM), the Callista database, and UNE myLearn Learning Management System, or experience with similar systems in another relevant higher education setting.
