This position will supervise staff and administer the theatrical component of the technical unit for Townsville City Council while providing a high level of service and advice to users of our venues. The role requires a clear understanding of the industry and an ability to implement all operational aspects of the Technical Unit working closely with members of the team to stage productions, events, functions, and other performing arts related activities.It is the responsibility of the Senior Technician to supervise technicians, assistant technicians, and utility staff of the Technical Unit, under the guidance of the Technical Team Leader. There may be a requirement to supervise and advise volunteer crew and organisations as potential or actual users of our venues.About YouTo be successful in this role you would need to have demonstrated excellent knowledge and skills of all aspects of sound, vision, and required technical systems.You would also need to have demonstrated a high level of leadership and the ability to develop and monitor the skills of supporting technicians and assistant technicians, along with highly developed skills in theatrical departments i.e. sound, vision, lighting, staging and other technical systems.You would need to be available to work flexible hours including weekends.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a dedicated team to further the performing arts in the community in Townsville.How to ApplyYour application can be submitted through the 'Apply' button.
