Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
About the role: The role is to provide a specialist elective and trauma Shoulder and Elbow service, plus contribute to general orthopaedic trauma management. The successful candidate will work closely with our physiotherapy team. The position includes elective operating, general and specialist trauma operating, elective and fracture clinics, teaching of the AOA trainee and other junior doctors, contribution to audit, M&M and departmental research.
There are also opportunities with the University of Queensland (UQ) for formal or informal roles teaching medical students who are on site. Orthopaedic services, both clinic and theatre, are delivered in Rockhampton and Gladstone Hospitals. We also provide telehealth services across Central Queensland (CQ) and Central West (CW) including Emerald, Longreach, Biloela, Barcaldine, Blackhall, Blackwater and smaller sites as required. The position comes with a 1:7 on call roster. The position is full time, however less than full time can be negotiated for the right candidate.
About you: MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). This will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in the specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery, or equivalent recognised qualification. Completion of a Shoulder and Elbow subspecialty fellowship is strongly recommended.Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies. What we offer: Salary information: Total remuneration value of up to $528,432 p.a. is comprised of:
A salary rate between $210,332 - $244,313 p.a. (L18-L24) A salary rate between $251,527 - $266,677 p.a.
