Services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care.About the role:As an Interdisciplinary Allied Health Assistant (AHA) you will work within the Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and broader inter-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality evidence-based therapy to patients in our acute Surgical Services wards.Under the supervision of a treating Physiotherapist, you may provide individually tailored exercise programs, facilitate mobility to minimise functional decline and provide early rehabilitation to progress the patient to an optimal discharge destination.Under the supervision of a treating Occupational Therapist, you may deliver equipment, provide patient screening assessments and give education for optimal discharge. The role includes inpatient activities for Speech Therapy and Dietetics as well.You will assist to improve the wellbeing and experience of patients in each setting. You will also undertake a range of non-clinical duties to support the provision of Allied Health services (e.g., administration, gait-aid and equipment collection and cleaning). You may be responsible for AHA student supervision and mentoring of junior AHA staff.
