This is a 6 month fixed term, part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2025 with possible extension (6 months) and/or permanency
North Kalgoorlie Primary School (PS) is located in the suburb of Lamington. Lamington is one of Kalgoorlie's oldest and finest suburbs. The school first opened in 1902 and boasts a tradition and spirit that brings all ex and current North Kalers together as one. The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) assists Teachers in delivering planned education programs, encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and assisting students to access the educational program and have an increased understanding of the multicultural nature of the learning environment.
The successful applicant will act as a liaison between the community, families and the school to develop an educational program relevant to both educational and cultural needs and supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement at school.
Minimum Requirements:
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
