The Westpac Group has a complex Information Technology environment that needs to deliver to the rapidly changing needs of our customers and employees, the ever-evolving IT landscape, and the Group's regulatory and statutory requirements.
How will I help?
The Release Manager role is an important role reporting into the Technology Service Owner. Release Manager is responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software's development and delivery process. As a Release Manager, you will -
* be responsible for partnering with the DevOps team deliver the services and will support both IT Operations and Delivery squads.
* be responsible for the Release Management lifecycle that involves the stages such as scheduling the release, coordinating between multiple squads across Originations and Servicing teams, and deployment of release as per the schedule.
* ensure that releases undergo required quality controls (testing stage and deployment stage) which requires working closely with the application development teams, testing teams, and production teams. You will have to maintain necessary coordination between these teams to update the project related information.
* Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected.
* Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
* Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities
* Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully.
* be required to manage the Risk reporting at portfolio level and help track issues/blockers/incidents in production at regular frequency(monthly). Any issue introduced in production as a result of a release should be included in risk reports and tracked until resolution.
* own access to applications that will be granted to Engineering team.
* Coordinate with L2/L3 teams and build/publish dashboards for tracking customer transactions and manage issues if identified.
* Make improvements in the methodologies used for configuration management and development of software that helps to find ways to use in configuration management
* Own the patch management process to ensure application vulnerabilities are addressed.
* Support the Technical Service Owner manage Risk and Controls for the applications we are accountable for.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you need to have the following skills, education & personal attributes.
Technical and Industry Expertise:
* A bachelor's or higher degree
* 10+ years’ experience within projects and/or delivery of technology solutions in a service delivery, project management or release management roles.
* Champion in driving continuous improvement and uplift in tools and processes.
* Experience across Agile and adaptive delivery models and mindsets.
* Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines & tooling
* Working knowledge of managing code repositories such as Github is desirable
* Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies
* Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
* Expertise in computer programming
* Team management skills
* Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban
* Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
* Expertise with the use of tools such as JIRA and Confluence
* Experience crafting and measuring success with OKRs, KPIs, etc.
* Previous Banking domain experience is a plus
* Experience of using Fortify/Tenable is desirable
