Full time continuing position contingent on the continuation of external funding in our Primary Care Department Located on the Camperdown Campus at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UVTHS) Exciting opportunity to provide best practice veterinary care in small animal general practice Base Salary HEO3, Step 1 (38 hpw), $76,356 p.a + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to provide nursing and technical assistance within the Primary Care department:Your key responsibilities will be to:assist clinicians and veterinary interns with treatments, prepare and assist with clinical proceduresprovide support for clinical teaching and professional nursing assistance with clinical casesclean and maintain clinical spaces; care for and maintain instruments and equipmenthandle telephone and face-to-face enquiries, basic triage, and admission and discharge of patientsmaintain stock including ordering of consumables and procurement of supplies, and control of stock quantities.The small animal service at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camperdown (UVTHS) operates in:a small animal specialist veterinary practicea wide range of all medical, surgical and emergent problemssecond opinion casesaccess to advanced equipment and imaging.As well as providing gold standard patient care, UVTHS provides an invaluable teaching experience for our final year veterinary students. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Veterinary Nurse who has:a Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital environmentknowledge of a large range of veterinary, surgical, and medical proceduresdemonstrated ability to cope with emergencies and stressful situationsdemonstrated ability to work independently and in a teamexperience working in a customer service environment with demonstrated high levels of care for patients and clientsgood attention to detaila willingness and ability to work varying rostered shifts supporting the UVTHS activities, including weekends, overnight and public holidaysthe ability to communicate with veterinary professionals and academic staffthe ability to lift animals up to 16kg and heavier animals with assistance (mechanical and/or team lifting), adhering to the University's Heavy Lifting Policycompetence and experience in best practice veterinary anaesthesiaexperience working in a veterinary teaching hospital environment preferredbeen vaccinated for Q Fever or willingness to be vaccinated.Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
