As a Relief Social Worker, you will provide essential coverage for our social workers at various locations throughout the Gippsland region, delivering support and interventions across various programs. You will play a key role in helping individuals and families navigate challenges related to child, youth, and family services, family violence, homelessness, and more.
Key responsibilities include:
Consumer Support: Provide assistance to individuals and families experiencing vulnerability, addressing their specific needs.
Assessment and Intervention: Conduct assessments using appropriate tools and frameworks, and implement specialized interventions for diverse client situations.
Emergency and Housing Support: Offer emergency relief assessment, referral support, and assist individuals and families facing housing insecurity or homelessness.
Out-of-Home Care Coordination: Oversee arrangements for children and young people in out-of-home care, ensuring their needs are met.
Collaboration and Record-Keeping: Build relationships with service providers and maintain accurate records of client interactions, assessments, and interventions.
Professional Development and Compliance: Engage in ongoing professional development and ensure compliance with legal, funding, and statutory requirements, fostering a culture of risk management.

About you:
You will have at a minimum a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification in line with the mandatory minimum qualifications for family violence practitioners. You will also have:
Substantial experience working with vulnerable children and families in the community service sector, including case management, intake assessment and emergency response.
Strong knowledge and skills as a practitioner working across a range of programs and services.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, assessment tools and frameworks such as the ‘Best Interests’ framework, CYFA 2005, Family Violence Protection Act 2008, FVISS, CISS and MARAM frameworks.
