About This Opportunity: We are seeking a Biomedical Research Engineer to provide specialist technical and engineering expertise in the development of a clinical therapeutic ultrasound system for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease and other brain diseases. The Research Engineer will play a supporting role in translational development by proactively driving the project towards a commercial endpoint.
Key Responsibilities: Supporting the team to develop, implement, monitor and undertake research activities. Developing experimental plans to meet medical device research and development objectives. Developing novel treatment paradigms using therapeutic ultrasound based pre-clinical animal studies to support clinical trials. Making hands-on contributions to overcome research challenges to solve technical problems in the biology and engineering space of therapeutic ultrasound. Performing experiments, test series and data analyses. Interpreting the research outcomes and supporting knowledge translation. About You: Completion of a BSc in Electrical engineering, Biomedical engineering or a relevant discipline with experience in medical device development.
Technical capabilities in data analysis using Matlab and/or Python.
Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent interpersonal skills (including written and verbal communication), and proven ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy in work product and ability to establish and meet deadlines.
Experience in techniques related to neuromodulation and brain applications.
Experience with diagnostic and/or therapeutic ultrasound, signal processing and simulation, data analysis and systems development.
Experience with FPGA (field programmable gate arrays) design and verification.
Experience of research and development in industry.
Working knowledge of ISO standards. The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
