The Position
We are looking for a Permanent Staff Specialist Anesthetist for an exciting position in New South Wales.
Joining a team of 12 Anaesthetists and 4-6 Registrars, you will have the opportunity to provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the Anaesthetics Service. The Anaesthetist is responsible for the provision of specialist anaesthetic services to emergency patients, inpatients and outpatients at the hospital, and with a wide range of opportunities this is a great area to keep track of all your skills.
Call is likely 1:7 and working ~ 3.5dpw on average. If rostered on call e.g.: on a Tuesday evening, you’re not rostered to work Wednesday.
Ensuring provision of high-quality anaesthetic services to all patients within the local health district you will proactively:
• Support the development of anaesthetic services.
• Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice.
• Support and develop anaesthesia research within the department.
Health Service
Just two hours south of Sydney, this health district provides health services for around 400,000 people. It is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 staff operating eight hospital sites and providing community health services from approximately 58 locations across the region. The Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. The hospital has 5 theatres, and a busy orthopaedics centre including paediatrics.

Essential Criteria
• Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and/or equivalent specialist recognition or eligible for Fellowship within 6 months of interview.
• Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
• Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services, including but not limited to Paediatric anaesthesia, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital.
The Package
• Base Salary: $186,241 - $251,618.
• Expected Salary of $262,376 to $361,777 including super.
• Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme - up to $10,000 depending on a position and location.
