Kooinda Workbase Child Care Centre is a thriving 56 place long day care service located within the campus of University of Newcastle. Their purpose-built service is surrounded by wonderful leafy bushland. The name ‘Kooinda’ means ‘a happy place’ in the local indigenous Awabakal language.
The service is very accessible via your own car or public transport, there are free and cheap paid parking options close by however there are regular buses that run to the campus with a bus stop very close by to the entrance.
Most of the team at Kooinda have been with KU between five to 20+ years and enjoy working across the 4 rooms at the service whilst sharing their special interests such as music, landscape design, storytelling and cooking with the children and families. Staff have a wonderful relaxing staff room with large windows overlooking onto the bushland surrounds and there are some cosy spots to maximise your opportunity to recharge during break times.
There is a very large yard that children can explore throughout the day that is open plan providing lovely opportunities for siblings and friends to interact no matter their age whilst playing amongst the cubby houses, on the climbing frames and in the mud kitchens.
The service focuses on natural environments and sustainability, where possible materials are natural, sustainable and upcycled. When they are not at the service, they are enjoying regular walks through the campus and bushland as well as sporting activities on the close by grassy area.
The team are looking for someone to join on a permanent, full time basis. You will work 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday accruing a monthly rostered day off.

Of course, you will need:
* Australian working rights
* A current NSW Working with Children Check
* An ACECQA recognised Certificate III
* Completed Child Protection Training as well as demonstrated understanding of current child safe practices
* Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
* Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)
