The Foundation:
Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation has one mission: to fund evidence-based research to better understand what causes mental illness, how to reduce its impact, and ultimately prevent mental illness from happening in the first place.
The Opportunity:
A rare and exciting opportunity presents for a Media and Communications Specialist to join the Breakthrough team and drive brand awareness and play a vital role in shaping their communications strategy.
This role involves managing media relations, producing high-quality content, and executing internal and external communication strategies. You will serve as the primary contact for media outlets, creating key messages, arranging interviews, and facilitating all necessary media requirements. Additionally, you will support the growth of social media presence with proactive and engaging content.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the primary contact for all media inquiries, managing relationships with journalists and media outlets.
* Create public relations strategies that enhance the foundation's visibility and positively promote activities.
* Produce engaging content for internal and external audiences, including websites, social media, publications, and speeches.
* Work with digital teams and suppliers to manage content creation, printing, and distribution.
* Ensure that all communications reflect the values and objectives of Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation.
* Engage and influence audiences through targeted PR efforts.
* Develop and execute internal communication plans, schedules, and content strategies.
What We're Looking For:
* 2+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
* A tertiary qualification in media, journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field is preferred.
* Proven track record in media liaison and producing impactful media content is highly desirable.
* Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
* The ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

The Finer Details:
* $70K-$75K + Super + Salary Sacrifice (pro rata for part-time).
* Mon-Fri 9am-5pm standard hours.
* Full-time but open to part-time also.
