Primary objective Under the direction and guidance of the Business Manager work as part of the Finance Team by providing an efficient financial service for estates, trusts, loans, investments and properties. Context statement The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) is a statutory body that provides guardianship, estate administration and trustee management. The PGT promotes and protects the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision-making capacity. A high degree of tact and confidentiality in this role is required. Our work is unique and person-centric, therefore we are seeking applicants with strong financial operation background. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Provide high standard of client-focused accounting, finance, taxation and reporting of the Public Guardian and Trustee and the Public Trustee Common Funds. 2. Provide specialist advice to the Public Guardian and Trustee staff and senior management on financial issues. 3. Assist in ensuring the efficient and effective administration of the trust accounting system TACT. 4. Contribute to the operations of the financial management system such as the input of financial data, daily ledger transactions, payments, bank reconciliations, account balances and liaising with Trust Officers. 5. Prepare accurate and timely accounting reports and financial statements, including month end and year end journals and reconciliations. 6. Undertake operational functions of investments including data entry, the application and redemption of funds, liaising with fund managers and overseeing investments to minimise risk. 7. Adhere to systems of internal financial controls and participate in internal and independent auditing. 8. Under direction, liaise with Financial Planners, Funds Administrators and Funds Managers in relation to financial investments. 9. Contribute to the development and implementation of financial accounting policies, procedure and practices. Selection criteria Essential 1. Demonstrated experience in financial management, reporting and accountability in a regulatory environment with a high level of attention to detail. 2. Demonstrated technical accounting knowledge and experience in applying accounting and financial principles, practices and standards including internal controls and auditing. 3. Knowledge and understanding of the general operations of a trustee organisation, including financial administration of estates, trusts and the associated legal and regulatory environment. 4. Proven record of successfully contributing to and excelling in team-based and agile environments. 5. Highly developed interpersonal oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of customers inclusively. Desirable 1. Tertiary qualification or similar in accounting, financial management or related field is highly desirable.
