Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Control Engineer to join our team in Perth. This role involves designing, programming, and commissioning control systems, working with key equipment including switchgear, motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable drive systems (VDSs), transformers, and a broad range of instrumentation and control equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ensuring operational readiness through commissioning and troubleshooting, with a focus on quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Control Systems Design and Programming: Develop and implement control systems, including PLC and SCADA configurations, to meet project specifications. Commissioning of Electrical Systems: Lead the testing and commissioning of switchgear, motors, MCCs, VDSs, and transformers, ensuring system readiness and operational efficiency. Instrumentation and Control Testing: Perform functional testing, loop checks, signal verification, and calibration of field instruments, ensuring accurate communication between instruments and the control system. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Collaborate with project engineers to identify and resolve control system issues, optimizing the performance of PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all commissioning and testing activities adhere to Australian standards and site safety protocols, with detailed documentation of each process. Hands-on Site Work: Conduct fieldwork involving routine checks, fault diagnostics, and system upgrades on essential equipment, supporting process optimization for energy generation. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation roles with a focus on control systems, MCCs, VDSs, transformers, and other critical plant equipment. Proven experience in commissioning and troubleshooting for power distribution control systems and industrial instrumentation. Strong knowledge of Australian compliance standards, electrical schematics, and hazardous area protocols. Hands-on expertise with leading brands and equipment, including Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Emerson Rosemount. Ability to interpret and work from P&IDs, wiring schematics, and technical drawings.
