We are hiring casual Youth Support Workers to support our clients in Grafton NSW We are looking for dedicated and experienced Youth Support Workers with a shared vision of improving the lives of the young people in our care. This role would see you Our ideal Youth Support Worker will have a background in therapeutic intensive care, first aid mental health, and/or disability support. As an integral part of our team, you'll be encouraged to utilise your passion and skills to support our young people to grow, develop, heal and feel empowered. The role: Provide person-centred support to young people. Engage in a range of activities to assist them to develop their skills. Support, supervise, organise, and participate in activities within and outside of the home. Work with young people and case managers in developing young people’s independent living skills. Participate (where appropriate) together with the case manager in the development of case plans with the young people to promote life skills, engagement in social activities and addressing any additional needs (i.e. mental health, behavioural) Work sensitively, professionally and with confidentiality when engaging with young people, carers, family and other support networks Essential requirements: Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Employee Working with Children Check Willingness to obtain a National Police Check A valid Australian driver’s license with a reliable and comprehensively insured car A current First Aid Certificate Youth Mental Health First Aid A current certification in Trauma Informed Care (desirable) About you: Must be available to work across a rotating roster including weekdays, sleepovers and weekend shifts. Willing to travel locally and interstate for casual shifts. Willing to undergo pre-employment checks and approvals as per clients discretion (waiting times may apply) Minimum nationally accredited completion of Certificate 4 and above in relevant Youth or Community Service field Minimum 6 months of experience working with children and teenagers in Out of Home Care or Foster carer programs, ITC or Disability settings. You have the ability to connect and build rapport with the young people and show a genuine interest in their lives, whilst maintaining professional boundaries. You have the ability to manage difficult situations and behaviours and be able to de-escalate these situations in a therapeutic way. You are committed to providing client-focused services with positive outcomes. Experience Working with high needs vulnerable young people who have experienced significant trauma and understanding how this effects their behaviour and emotional needs.
