Guide Family Services Worker in assisting clients with complex needs, making referrals to Pathway of Hope, external community resources, and Community Ministries officer for spiritual care.Coordinate Foodbank Operations, in accordance with The Salvation Army Mission, Vision, and Values and Foodbanks Canada Standards of Excellence, this includes School Food program, Community Café, and community meals outreach.Coordinate/Organize/Oversee/Develop annual outreach and seasonal community services programs and events such as, but not limited to: Christmas Assistance, Christmas Toy and Hamper program, Summer Camps, other community outreach programs as determined by the Sydney Community Church Mission Board.Assist in the coordination of United Way Support i.e., funding proposals, reporting under the direction of the Community Ministries Officer.Engage with ongoing strategic planning to ensure programming reflects client need as these may evolve within the ever-changing socioeconomic climate.Responsible for making sure any concerns with maintenance and general cleanliness of the Workplace are forwarded to the Community Ministries Officer.Actively promote the Sydney Community Church programs within the community.Support and assist with Emergency Disaster Response and Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) training of volunteers and staff.Human ResourcesHire, orientate, and train, in consultation with the Community Ministries Officer/Corps Officer ensuring compliance with The Salvation Army HR Standards.Provide ongoing, consistent coaching, performance feedback, and manage the evaluation (including probationary evaluations) of direct reports ensuring that they work together to achieve the purpose of the organization and enhance the mission of The Salvation Army.Responsible to ensure that each position for those supervised has a clearly defined and up-to-date job description and task list, outlining that employee’s responsibilities, in consultation with Atlantic Division HR Department and Community Ministries Officer/Corps Officer.Using Workday prepare, post, and maintain all departmental work schedules for those supervised.Identify training requirements, make recommendations and develop strategies for employee and volunteer development.Recruit, orientate, and manage background checks for all MU volunteers, the Community Mission Supervisor is the first point of contact for Sydney Community Church volunteers across all departments.Collaborates with department leaders to organize volunteer work schedule for their departments.Ensure that all employees and volunteers maintain any mandatory training or certification; identify and training needs and report to the Community Ministries Officer.Health and SafetyEnsure safety of employees, volunteers, and clients, i.e., clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside office, clean spillage; ensure that the property is always secured.Responsible to maintain a level of competency and actively engage in Sydney Community Church Workplace Health and Safety committee, under the direction of the Corps Officer.Ensure that the measures and procedures prescribed (OH&SA) are carried out in the workplace and that every reasonable precaution is taken for the protection of the worker and workplace.Provide oversight of WSIB claims and other health and safety matters in Community and Family Services and ensure that proper procedures are followed in the event of a workplace injury or illness; supervision of the Early and Safe Return to Work Program.Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.Administration and FinancePrepare and submit reports, proposals, program evaluations as requested to the Community Ministries Officer/Corps Officer.Maintain accurate confidential written records, logs of activities, including activity reports and statistical information, and client data in Link2Feed.Prepare, submit incident reports; maintain records of all reports and dealing with complaints effectively and in a timely manner.Receive, record, secure monetary and non-monetary donations following TSA Finance guidelines; ensure information is forwarded to the business manager for the issuing of donation receipts for income tax purposes.Provide input in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Community Services programs.Perform other duties as required.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:Governance Boards and Councils:Internal:Corps Officer, Community Ministries Officer, Territorial Human Relations Department, employees, volunteers.External:Those we serve; homeless, marginalized, and disenfranchised.Community partners, various community meetings, committees, and donors.MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY :This position reports directly to the Community Ministries Officer.Attend community meetings with various groups.The incumbent is responsible for the direct supervision of 3 full time employees: the direct supervision of temporary employees including student placements where applicable.The incumbent is responsible for the direct supervision of up to 50 volunteers for regular and seasonal programming.Conduct regular staff meetings to review operational effectiveness.Participate, and lead employee and volunteer meetings as required.FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:Participate in the discussion and preparation of annual budgets and monitor/manage financial performance; accordingly.In consultation with the Community Ministries Officer/Corps Officer, prepare funding and contract proposals for submission to various funding bodies.Oversee food bank materials management such as donations/product flow and distribution of same.Expenditure approval to support Foodbank Operations and Christmas Operations, as directed by Community Ministries Officer in accordance with approved MU budget.WORKING CONDITIONS:This is a permanent full-time position.Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities – some weekend and evening work may be required.Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.This position is considered a management position.
