Supabarn Supermarkets presents an innovative and modern shopping experience through new store formats and a clear focus on range, freshness and service. We are expanding our hot food and ready meals range, offering our customers a quick, convenient and value for money choice of prepared meals within the store.
Supabarn is now seeking experienced Cooks to join our Home Kitchen team at our Kingston store.
Responsibilities
* examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
* regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
* preparing and cooking food
* seasoning food during cooking
* portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
* storing food in temperature controlled facilities
* preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
* may plan menus and estimate food requirements
* may train other kitchen staff and apprentices
Relevant Qualification:
· AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training
· At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
Requirements and skills
* Proven experience as cook
* Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
* Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
* Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
* Ability to work in a team
* Very good communication skills
* Excellent physical condition and stamina
