Due to a recent surge in product demand, this well established business is looking to secure the services of an experienced Electro-Mechanical Engineer to oversee the maintenance and optimisation of the plant’s state of the art electro-mechanical systems, including electrical, control, mechanical, and automation components, ensuring smooth production processes and minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within the processing plant. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical circuits, control systems, motors, conveyors, robotic arms, and other plant equipment. Work with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) systems for fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair. Design & Improvement: Collaborate in the design, implementation, and modification of electro-mechanical systems to enhance production efficiency, safety, and quality. Support process improvements through automation and integration of new technologies. Provide input for the design and upgrade of electrical and mechanical components in the plant for long-term reliability. Technical Support & Documentation: Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams to ensure optimal equipment performance. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, technical specifications, manuals, and schematics for all electro-mechanical systems. Assist in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety standards and regulations related to electrical and mechanical work. Ensure the plant’s operations comply with local and national regulatory requirements, including safety, environmental, and quality standards. Key Qualifications & Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within manufacturing, industrial automation, or a glass processing environment. Experience with electrical control systems, PLC programming, and mechanical systems is highly desirable. Familiarity with glass processing machinery (such as glass cutting, edging, and tempering machines) is advantageous but not essential. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, motors, sensors, drives, and control systems. Proficiency in mechanical systems including conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and pneumatic systems. Experience with automation and robotic systems is a plus. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex electro-mechanical issues. Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting issues and providing technical documentation. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and maintenance management systems is advantageous. Certifications: Australian Electrical License (or equivalent). Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Work Health and Safety, First Aid) preferred Working Conditions: Full-time position, based at the plant in Geelong. Occasional weekend work, and on-call duties may be required depending on the plant's operational schedule and breakdowns. Competitive salary package with 4 weeks annual leave per year and 17.5% leave loading, 10 days sick leave per year. 3 x skilled support staff experienced in welding, fabricating and trouble shooting.
