PRIMARY DETAIL The Head, Capability, Culture and Inclusion leads the Capability, Culture and Inclusion team and is a member of the HR Leadership Team. The role has direct managerial responsibility for a team of Capability, Culture and Inclusion Consultants and works collaboratively with the HR Business Partners, fellow HR Centres of Expertise, and HR Shared Services in addition to leaders and staff across the University and MQ Health. As the Head of Capability, Culture and Inclusion, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a workplace that champions diversity, strengthens leadership capability, and enhances the employee experience across the University. About the Role Reporting to the Chief People Officer and as a key member of the HR Leadership Team, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals to design and implement innovative strategies that build capability, drive cultural transformation, and embed inclusion at the core of our people and culture agenda. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders, HR teams, and external partners to ensure that Macquarie University is recognised as an employer of choice for its inclusive and high performing workforce. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of organisational-wide capability, culture, and inclusion initiatives. Partner with the Chief People Officer and stakeholders to shape and execute group-level strategies in leadership development, employee experience, learning, and performance. Support the implementation of the University’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Framework. Oversee compliance with equity, diversity, and inclusion regulations, ensuring effective reporting and tracking of key workforce metrics. Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to advance Macquarie University’s people and culture priorities. Contribute to a high-performance HR function by fostering continuous improvement and innovation. About You You are a strategic and people-focused leader with a deep understanding of organisational development, culture, and inclusion. Your experience in leading complex, large-scale people initiatives enables you to design and execute high-impact solutions. You bring a data-driven and evidence-based approach to decision-making and have a strong ability to influence and partner with key stakeholders. Essential Requirements Qualifications: Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent extensive experience. (Desirable) Coaching accreditation or experience with psychometric profiling tools. Experience & Skills: Proven success in leading strategic people initiatives in large organisations, ideally within higher education or healthcare. Expertise in organisational development, talent management, learning, leadership development, and performance frameworks. Strong knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices and anti-discrimination legislation. Advanced analytical and data-driven decision-making skills. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills. Experience in coaching, facilitation, and capability-building for individuals and teams.
