About the role – full-time, fixed term contract for 18 months As a Senior Intelligence & Detection Specialist your primary function is to reduce People First Bank customers' exposure to fraud & scam losses by providing advanced detection and analytical services.
This involves developing, supporting, and maintaining analytical frameworks and quantitative techniques to identify and manage fraud & scam risks across a range of portfolios, including digital fraud, card fraud, and scam detection.
You will play a direct role in generating transaction monitoring alerts by utilising a fraud detection system, investigating and collaborating with stakeholders to establish if transactions are genuine or suspicious.
Other key responsibilities include: Enhance business strategies for the purpose of preventing, detecting and responding to fraud & scam events.
Review detection rules on all monitoring systems to ensure the adequacy of the rules i.e.
rules are effectively detecting fraud and scams at acceptable false positive rates.
Undertake incident reviews and propose new/enhanced detection rules.
Analyse fraud trends and implement detection strategies balancing fraud risk and customer friction.
Build tools and processes supporting the activation of fraud detection analytics within People First Bank.
About you Our ideal candidate will have a solid background in payments and/or fraud detection, enabling you to identify and address fraud and scam patterns effectively.
You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large data sets and identifying trends.
A collaborative approach is key, as you will support the business in developing practical solutions and applying a data-driven approach to fraud mitigation.
You are proactive in tackling challenges, using your expertise to analyse data, uncover fraud trends, and drive improvements in detection processes.
Strong communication skills are crucial for working with stakeholders at all levels.
In addition, you will have a passion for mentoring and coaching colleagues to foster a supportive team environment.
Formal qualification in technology, information systems, data science, statistics, data analytics or other relevant fields is desirable for the role.
