The Media Advisor plays a key role in engaging with the media for both proactive and reactive media opportunities and inquiries, as directed.
Reporting to the Principal Manager, Media and Government Relations, this position requires ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders, including the Commissioner and external agencies, to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
As a Media Advisor, you'll be responsible for managing the QBCC's reputation through proactive media initiatives, identifying and drafting positive stories and informative articles, and responding to reactive media inquiries to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The position will require attendance at the Brisbane (West End) office at least three days per week, with days negotiable upon offer and there is the option to work from home under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement for up to two days per week.
Key Outcomes and AccountabilitiesProvide media and communications advice to the Commissioner and Senior Leadership Team as required.Prepare proactive and reactive media releases and media enquiry responses.Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including journalists, senior leaders, the QBCC communication team (including the social media team), and other government agencies and ministerial staff.Identify and research newsworthy opportunities within the organisation and produce media releases that generate earned media coverage. Candidate AttributesDemonstrated high-level skills and experience in writing media releases, media enquiry responses, speeches, briefing notes, articles, promotional material and the ability to work under pressure and to meet short deadlines.Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with media, government, and industry leaders to build positive working relationships for the organisation.High-level skills and experience in advising on media issues and working with the media.Well-developed written and verbal communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
