REX Minerals Hillside project is one of the largest undeveloped copper resources in Australia. We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Community to lead all facets relating to HSEC on this significant undertaking.This critical role will develop and implement all HSEC strategies and policies to meet legislative and regulatory requirements and positively impact the well-being of all REX employees as well as the local environment and the broader community in which we work.Your key responsibilitiesAs the most senior HSEC policy expert in the company, you will represent the company (and the Hillside project) on all regulatory matters to ensure compliance across the board. Leading and working with a team of Community, Health and Safety and Environment Managers, you will drive the development of the HSEC strategy and framework including all policies, standards, procedures, programs, systems and management plans and lead their implementation and application (including oversight of all contracting partners). A critical element in the success of this role will be your ability to proactively engage all relevant government departments and the local community on all matters relating to the safety of the workforce and any environmental discussions relating to the project.About YouThis is not your everyday HSEC opportunity. You will require a very strong and demonstrable history of exceptional delivery in all areas of HSEC in complex mining and processing environments. You will have extensive experience in complex HSEC project management (planning and implementation) and in the application of risk management principles and the ability to communicate these effectively to all stakeholders (internal and external).Your skills and experienceYou will possess a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the regulatory authorising and operating environment relating to the mining industry in South Australia and more broadly, including political context, government processes, interpreting and applying legislation.You will hold a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Health, Environment, Safety (or other relevant discipline).At least 15 years’ experience in health, safety, environment and community roles in mining (or another related heavy industry).Extensive regulatory knowledge and understanding of the mining industry and the environments in which mines operate.Strong history of successful community engagement, regulation, conflict resolution, risk communication and social impact assessment.Proficient knowledge of digital HSEC management systems.Proven people leadership and communication to provide safe and supportive work environments with a united and collaborative culture.Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight timeframes with exceptional attention to detail.You will have experience living and working in regional communities and be willing to do so on a regular basis.This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal, leadership role in one of South Australia’s most significant mining projects and a salary package commensurate with the significance of the role (and your experience) will be negotiated accordingly.
