About the Role
The successful candidate will contribute to the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme targeting the healing of trauma in Stolen Generations survivors. The Scheme's focus is on individuals removed from the Northern Territory, the Australian Capital Territory, and the Jervis Bay Territory during Commonwealth administration. Participating in this initiative is both exciting and crucial.
You will need to have strong engagement skills, effectively and efficiently manage workflow and have high level communication and interpersonal skills. In addition Customer Service Officers will be responsible for the monitoring and receiving of incoming telephone enquiries through an 1800 enquiry line, making outbound calls and process applications using a customer management system.
Duties
* A commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
o Experience in communicating sensitively and respectfully, to be able to provide a service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
o Demonstrated high level of cultural capability or the ability to develop understanding the cultural context and the impacts of past events, policies and programs.
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team, be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with a changing working environment.
* Highly developed, customer focused, relationship building skills that incorporates the key principles of trauma-Informed care: safety, empowerment, connection, choice and control.
* Refined interpersonal skills with the ability to use culturally appropriate language.
* Proficiency in maintaining comprehensive and detailed case management records with high level attention to detail, ensuring application completeness, tracking milestones and reporting on progress.
* Strong organisational skills, demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and monitor service delivery.
* Taking personal responsibility for accurate completion of work and quality requirements.
What's on offer
The successful candidate will be offered an APS5 equivalent hourly rate contract. Notionally, 12-month contract. This position is based in Woden, ACT.
As this role is with the Federal Government, only Australian citizens will be considered for this vacancy, a Baseline Security Clearance and a National Police Check (within the last 6-months) is preferred, or willingness to obtain.
