About The TeamThe Utilities Facilities Delivery team is responsible for the project management and construction of capital works for the City’s sewage treatment plant (STP) projects including new/upgrade and renewals. This spans the full range of treatment plant assets and all relevant engineering disciplines (Civil, Electrical, mechanical, process, controls). The team works closely with engineering consultants and our panel of contractors to deliver on our commitments.About Your New RoleThe STP delivery teamhas a large program of capital works to deliver over the next 10 years. This involves both major treatment plant upgrades and ongoing asset renewals programs. To ensure the effective delivery of this program, significant input is needed in the design and technical space to ensure that the city is getting value for money and fit for purpose outcomes.The City is looking for an experienced design manager to manage the program of design engagements and lead a team of highly skilled designers and Engineers. This includes input in the early stages of project development, throughout construction and into commissioning.This opportunity is a 4-year fixed term arrangement commencing in mid 2025. The position is a reclassified Alternative Employment Agreement (AEA) and is commensurate with working a 10-day fortnight. Remuneration will be discussed with the incoming candidate based on alignment of skills, knowledge and experience.How You’ll Make a DifferenceThis position is a significant contributor to managing our collaborative partnership, ensuring all design, construction and commissioning activities are implemented in accordance with the City's project management and contract management requirements. This is an exciting career opportunity for a person with an engineering background to: Manage a high-performing team of Engineers, Design Managers and Principal’s Design Partners to support the successful delivery across a significant program of work. Ensure the works are designed and constructed in accordance with state safety and environmental legislation. Ensure the works are designed and constructed in accordance with the project specifications and the approved business case to ensure high-quality outcomes are achieved. Ensure all key stakeholders are consulted during the project lifecycle including the presentation of accurate design and construction status reporting, forecasting expenditure and timelines. Manage the design program including the pipeline of work and team resourcing while providing guidance on technical matters with our design partners Manage and control all commercial and contractual matters in accordance with the design framework agreement. We're Looking For People Who HaveYou will have a minimum 10 years delivering multidiscipline projects including minimum 5 years within the municipal water industry.The following personal and technical attributes are desirable for this role: Bachelor Degree of Engineering (Mandatory) Qualifications in Project Management or Leadership and Management, or equivalent knowledge (Mandatory) Drivers licence unrestricted (Mandatory) General construction induction white card The ability to motivate and empower a team to achieve key business outcomes. Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution and the ability to influence outcomes.
