You will join our world class SRE team providing services for Macquarie Banking and Financial Services. The SRE function is a highly visible force multiplier with a growth mindset, going through a period of increased investment, where you can contribute to the delivery of a highly reliable banking solution. Leverage your extensive technical knowledge & people management skills to build, coach and inspire the SRE function at Macquarie Bank (50 engineers across the Globe). What role will you play?
Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, your key responsibilities will be to direct a team of Engineering Managers and a mix of Principal and Lead Engineers of different levels of experience. Experience in a similar leadership role, you will have a growth mindset and an impressive software engineering track record across a range of technologies. We utilise the latest cloud technologies with our services deployed in Google Cloud and AWS.
You will have opportunities to be involved in all aspects of SRE, covering Observability, SLOs, Release Engineering, Resiliency and Capacity Management. Through partnering with engineering teams within Macquarie, you will help your teams develop and drive the adoption of SRE best practices and tooling across the organisation. The role will require close engagement and collaboration with all the engineering community. You will also be involved in projects such as measuring, testing and improving our resilience, our capacity to deal with increasing load, our ability to make changes safely and our observability.
You will be responsible for driving the continuous improvement of development processes to improve team productivity, guiding the team on aligned architectural and long-term engineering decisions, as well as shorter-term trade-offs. Maintaining high quality standards for yourself and software engineering practices of your team. Lead the engineers within your team as we continue to raise the bar and build a world-class engineering team. Mentor team members to create a highly motivated culture with a focus on engineering excellence.
What you offer
* 5+ years of engineering leadership experience building high performing and autonomous teams
* Previous strong experience in software engineering and system design utilising Java, Golang or similar language and Cloud deployments 10+ years
* Excellent understanding of modern software development practices, tools and technologies
* Understands and experienced in all aspects of Reliability
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business
* Bias to action, getting things done and effecting organisational change
* Ability to handle competing priorities
* Proven track record of delivering large engineering initiatives and outcomes with recent experience within Reliability
