Consulting & Generalist HR (Human Resources & Recruitment)
The HR Manager is a senior role, demonstrating HR expertise and commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture. You will manage all HR operations to support business goals, including overseeing recruitment from advertising to onboarding, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and serving as the central HR contact for staff and managers. Additionally, you will lead health and safety initiatives, manage exit processes, promote employee wellbeing through the EAP, and maintain accurate records for data-driven decisions. Regular reviews of HR processes will drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and scalability, setting a high standard for the HR function at Johnny H.
This role can be based at either in Canberra or Nepean – choose which location suits you best!
Key responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end recruitment, including job ads, interviews, selection, contracts, and qualification checks, in collaboration with hiring managers.
* Ensure compliance with all HR legal, regulatory, and organisational standards and update policies to reflect best practice.
* Oversee onboarding, induction, and health and safety initiatives.
* Manage staff departures, including exit interviews, final payments, and analysis for retention strategies.
* Administer performance management and maintain recognition programs.
* Conduct regular HR reviews to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
* Maintain accurate records, generate HR reports, lead HR projects, oversee EAP, and support wellbeing initiatives.
About you
You are a person who has:
* HR degree or equivalent 5+ years in a similar role.
* Proven leadership in HR, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and impartiality.
* Strong multitasking abilities in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
* Excellent leadership and influence skills, building productive relationships at all levels.
* Ability to foster innovation, adaptability, and embrace diverse perspectives.
* Knowledge of people metrics, HR frameworks, and employment law, with a compliance focus.
* Track record in delivering impactful HR strategies and projects.
* Skilled in creating an inclusive, positive culture aligned with organisational goals.
* AHRI membership (desirable).
