NSW Government CouncilContract Role - Until 28 February 2025 - Potential to Extend$59 per hour + SuperBlacktown LocationHybrid Working AvailablePosition Purpose • Provide expertise to halt or reverse the effects, pressures and threats on the built and natural environment by working in collaboration with internal stakeholders, our community and other stakeholders • Bring together a wide array of stakeholders to learn about the city’s challenges and help build support for individual initiatives, and for resilience building in general • Develop and participate in the implementation of projects, strategies, policies, guidelines and procedures that align with this commitment specifically: o Environment and sustainability o Climate change o Resilience, especially in the face of urban heat. • Act in accordance with the NSW Work Health Safety Act 2011, Work Health Safety Regulation 2017 and the Work Health and Safety (WHS) System. Key Accountabilities • The implementation of actions and development of new initiatives that ensure Council and the community are moving towards resilience especially in the face of climate change • The implementation of monitoring and reporting protocols in order to achieve improved climate change outcomes for Council’s operations • Facilitating appropriate environmental engagement activities that address community needs • Facilitating appropriate climate change programs that address the needs of our community • Influence a positive sustainability culture across Council • Ensure all allocated tasks are completed in an efficient and competent manner within the time frame specified • If this role is identified as a position which undertakes coordination of volunteer programs as well as the supervision of volunteers when they are on site (not including work experience placements) you will be required to: o familiarise yourself with our Volunteers policy and standard o implement the policy and follow this standard in a consistent and fair manner o undertake training needed to effectively coordinate volunteers o allocate sufficient time to volunteer coordination. Qualifications and Experience Essential • Relevant Degree in environmental science or equivalent • Solid industry experience supported by environmental sustainability experience • Solid knowledge of, and experience in climate change and/or sustainability related policy development processes and planning, incl. engagement in government decision-making processes • Proven skills in project management including planning, establishing priorities, evaluation and allocation and management of resources and budget • Solid experience in report writing including ability to measure, evaluate and meet reporting requirements Desirable • Relevant local government experience • Previous experience in a sustainability role including research, projects and promoting sustainability best practice • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations How to Apply Click APPLY or contact Gemma on gemmad@charterhouse.com.au for a confidential discussion.
