The LGH is Tasmania's second largest hospital and the major referral centre for Northern Tasmania, operating within its designated role in the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework, as a level 5 hospital. Providing inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston and surrounding areas it is the largest employer in the region with around 4000 staff. The LGH has 349 beds (excluding mental health inpatient beds). The Level 3 Adult Intensive Care Unit at the Launceston General Hospital comprises of 11 beds and provides complex multisystem life support for an indefinite period.
As the clinical teaching and research centre, LGH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
* As the senior pharmacist, provide pharmaceutical care to critical care patients as well as training, professional supervision and support to pharmacy staff within the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).
* Coordinate the practice of clinical pharmacy activities and the provision of drug information in the specialist area of critical care medicine.
* Provide and coordinate comprehensive pharmaceutical care as part of a multidisciplinary team in the area of critical care medicine, including dispensing and patient counselling and the provision of professional advice and consultancy services to other health professionals.
* Educate pharmacy staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students in the theory and practice of clinical pharmacy services and supervise other pharmacists and associated support staff in the specialist areas.
* Take an active role in the maintenance and provision of drug information and drug utilisation evaluation within the specialty areas and in education programs for other health professionals (including undergraduates).
* Keep abreast of emerging trends in drug therapy in the specialist area by self-education and participation in national networks and participate in research and clinical drug trials.
* Review existing policies and procedures and develop new procedures and methods related to the specialist areas, including an involvement in the development of electronic prescribing and decision support.
Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary range is following Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
* A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
* Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
* Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
* For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for Provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
* Current Driver's Licence
Applicants should note, the position features:
* This position may be recruited to as day work or shift work
* Occasional intrastate travel may be required
* Participate in an on-call and weekend roster with other pharmacists for out of hours provision of pharmacy services, as needed
* Remain on-call as necessary in emergency situations (e.g. Code Brown, Pandemic, critical medication shortages)
