About the Role
The federal government department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer who can navigate the monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters, particularly within the context of government services. The ideal candidate will provide technical support, troubleshoot problems, and automate solutions to ensure stable and efficient operation of OpenShift environments.
Responsibilities
o Design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.
o Assist developers in automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerised applications using OpenShift, utilising our GitOps platform and CI/CD pipelines for efficient service delivery.
o Oversee cluster management (including in-place cluster upgrades), resource allocation, configuration management, and capacity planning within Red Hat OpenShift environments, ensuring optimal performance and responsible resource utilisation.
o Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Helm to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
o Ensure the security of OpenShift environments by implementing best practices, including vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and role-based access control.
o Lead technical teams in the execution of OpenShift projects, mentoring junior engineers and managing project timelines and deliverables.
Requirements
o 5+ years of experience in system administration, including experience in OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster administration.
o Experience in Kubernetes administration, including networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting within containerised environments.
o Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration.
o Experience and knowledge across a breadth of ICT technologies or methodologies including Kubernetes, Ansible, Helm, Python & Bash, CI/CD Pipelines, Git, and Linux.
Due to the nature of the role, the applicant needs to be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance. Candidates with active security clearance are encouraged to apply.
