The role supports management in addressing governance related matters, including risk, compliance, business processes, and responses to emerging issues, to ensure a consistent and accountable approach across the organisation.While working collaboratively across Council, the Governance Support Officer will also assist the Business Support Coordinator with the implementation and continuous improvement of Council's governance and compliance frameworks, contributing to a culture of strong corporate governance and organisational integrity.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide governance advice and support under the direction of the Business Support Coordinator, Director Corporate and Community Services, and other internal stakeholders on a range of matters including legislative, operational, risk, and strategic issues.Support the development, implementation, and review of Council's governance, risk, and compliance frameworks to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance.Assist in the preparation and delivery of written and verbal reports to governing committees and Council management teams.Promote a positive risk and compliance culture across Council by coordinating training programs, workshops, forums, and other internal engagement activities.Contribute to the development and maintenance of Council's strategic and operational risk registers.Assist in integrating effective risk assessment and management practices into Council operations and projects in collaboration with the Business Support Coordinator.Coordinate and provide administrative support to ensure the effective functioning of the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) and the Internal Audit program.Provide assistance to the Business Support Coordinator in assessing and processing Right to Information (RTI) applications and statutory requests, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies, and offering guidance to customers and staff on information release and privacy matters.Assist in the management of complaints in accordance with Council's complaints management framework.Conduct high-level research and reporting on Council's complaints management system, including liaison with complainants and case monitoring.See the Position Description for a more extensive list of key responsibilities.Our Ideal CandidateWe are seeking a motivated and detail oriented professional who is passionate about strengthening Council processes and ensuring accountability.
