Key Responsibilities:
* Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a variety of mobile plant equipment, including dump trucks, cement agitators, tippers, loaders, excavators, and other heavy machinery.
* Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other key components.
* Overhaul and replace components as needed to ensure machines are operating at optimal efficiency.
* Use diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot issues in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
* Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure mobile plant machinery remains in good working order and adheres to company and industry standards.
* Proactively identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to breakdowns, minimizing unscheduled downtime.
* Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards, minimizing risk to yourself, colleagues, and the environment.
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following best practices for mechanical maintenance.
Key Requirements:
* Qualifications:
* Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical or equivalent).
* A current driver’s license (manual preferred).
* A valid White Card (Construction Induction) or the ability to obtain one.
* Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Mechanical Fitter, with hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of mobile plant equipment (e.g., dump trucks, cement trucks, tippers, loaders, excavators).
* Strong background in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in heavy mobile machinery.
* Experience with various brands and types of equipment (no specific brand required).
* Skills & Attributes:
* Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues with speed and accuracy.
* Proficient in using diagnostic tools, maintenance systems, and repair equipment.
* Strong understanding of mobile plant machinery and its components.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive attitude towards preventative maintenance and equipment upkeep.
* Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Desirable:
* Experience with concrete mixers, cement trucks, or mobile concrete plants is an advantage.
* Additional qualifications or experience in welding, hydraulic systems, or electrical maintenance would be beneficial.
* Forklift or other relevant machinery licenses would be advantageous.
