Project Manager - Payroll System Migration/Implementation 12 months CONTRACT with potential extension Hybrid working arrangement ( 3 days a week on-site in Northern Suburbs of Melbourne ) Daily rate: $900 - $950 (inc. Super) ROLE OVERVIEW As the Project Manager, you will play a critical role in leading the successful planning, mapping, execution, documenting, migration and implementation of a new payroll system. You will work closely with HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors to ensure the project is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This role involves identifying project requirements, risks, and scope to make informed decisions on an effective payroll system to migrate, with future phases potentially including time and attendance modules and HRIS integration. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Lead the end-to-end planning, implementation, and post-implementation (hyper-care) of the payroll system migration and implementation. Define and manage the project strategy, governance, and stakeholder collaboration. Act as the primary liaison for HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors to facilitate communication and updates. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and communication strategies. Document current and future payroll-based processes and requirements. Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure best practices are implemented. Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and internal agreements within the new system. Oversee system implementation and prepare for future integrations, including time and attendance and HRIS. Develop migration plans and manage risk through a detailed risk register and mitigation strategies. Communicate project risks, issues, and changes effectively to stakeholders. Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards, providing regular status updates to support decision-making. Manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met, and oversee governance forums. Deliver training to stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. Ensure confidentiality of sensitive data throughout the project. MORE ABOUT YOU Extensive experience in managing payroll system migration or implementation projects. Previous experience in mapping the existing payroll system and time and attendance processes, as well as identifying future system requirements. Familiarity with payroll systems, HRIS, and related software applications. Strong knowledge of payroll systems, system integrations, compliance, and regulations. Experience with business analytics for IT blueprint development and project governance. Excellent problem-solving, risk management, and communication skills. Ability to manage competing tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate across teams.
