Guidance Officer - James Nash State High School (0.8 FTE), Education Department of Education QLD – North Coast QLD Part time, Full time, Contract, Casual/Temporary James Nash State High School are seeking a temporary part-time Guidance Officer to join their team at 0.8 FTE and 40 hours per fortnight, for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.As the Guidance Officer you will provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes; collaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.About the Role The school GO service falls within a broader Wellbeing Team which includes: Student Wellbeing Professional, Youth Support Coordinator, Student Support Officer, School Based Health Nurse and Chaplain.The wellbeing staff work closely together and with external agencies to support students and their engagement in schooling.As the Guidance Officer, you will have responsibility for the following: Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues.Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises student access and engagement in educational programs.
