We are not just a health service; we are a movement towards holistic health and community strength.About the OpportunityKAMS now has an opportunity for a Speech Pathologist to join the Remote Early Childhood Supports (RECS) team in Kununurra, WA, on a full-time basis. This is an amazing opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team in a beautiful location that provides a family centred, culturally appropriate and holistic service to the local and the surrounding remote Aboriginal communities. The RECS team support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 0-9 and their families to learn, grow and develop. We work with families, education providers, and other service providers to understand the child’s needs and tailor intervention to the individual.Some of your key responsibilities will include:Assessing and treating children 0-9 years who have speech, language, fluency and literacy difficultiesProvide culturally responsive assessment and intervention for families/childrenLiaise with local educational services, allied health services and support providers in WA regarding the services availableWorking within the framework of a family and client centred practice, in our ACCHO, in the clinic, at family homes or in the communityThe ideal candidate will have a Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. You'll also require demonstrated competency in the assessment and management of children with communication difficulties. Ideally, you would have lived and/or worked as a Speech Pathologist in Aboriginal Health and have two or more years' clinical experience with a commitment to the principals of an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health (ACCHO) service and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A high level of integrity and a dedication to maintaining client confidentiality will ensure you flourish in this position. Due to the nature of this role, a current driver’s licence with the capacity to drive a 4WD is required.
