From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience, Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.
This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.
The role
The Head of Quality provides leadership for the quality function and is accountable for the effectiveness of this function in their business. The AMS business incorporates ATC Digital/HE Products and Projects, OneSKY Project, and TopSKY ATC-One Product Line.
The Head of Quality is responsible for ensuring the application of the Thales Quality Policy to ensure customer trust. This includes taking a risk-based approach to defining and implementing quality assurance activities, assuring compliance, identifying deficiencies, certifying products, and evaluating and minimising potential quality-related risk and raising Alerts and enforcing Veto for quality issues when necessary. It also includes facilitating continuous quality improvement and ensuring the Business Management System (called Chorus 2.0) is implemented and effective in delivering quality across all areas of their business.
Some key responsibilities include:
Managing customer feedback ensuring that related corrective and preventive actions are developed and implemented.
Helping build customer confidence by maintaining direct links with Customer’s Quality managers and ensuring that problems are resolved without undue delay.
Ensuring that Customer needs are clearly understood and defining the “right” standard of Quality needed within the entity.
Assuring Quality throughout the life cycle of bids, projects, and products.
Establishing and maintaining a close relationship with bid managers and capture leads to ensure understanding of quality objectives and expectations in bids.
On day one you will come with:
Tertiary Qualifications in an engineering or related technical discipline.
Audit Qualifications (e.g., Lead Auditor) background or qualifications is desirable.
Experience in quality management, preferably in a system’s engineering organisation, or other relevant technically oriented discipline.
Detailed knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
Strategic influencing skills including the ability to promote improvement at all levels and across all areas of the organisation.
Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in an effective manner.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand and critique requirements. Expertise in applying problem-solving tools, such as 8D is desirable.
