Above award wages and employer superannuation at 13% About the role This role supports the City's success by offering operational leadership to ensure high-quality service delivery, compliance with Arboricultural standards, and effective management of City of Hobart trees, Nursery operations, and the Skills Centre. Role accountabilities include: Oversee the implementation of the annual capital and maintenance tree programs within the Council Works Program, integrating the Street Tree Strategy, management plans, precinct plans, and policy recommendations. Create and execute a multi-year tree planting initiative aimed at increasing the city's canopy cover to 40% by 2046. Offer technical arboriculture guidance to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders on protecting Council tree assets, including for Council projects and maintenance. Prepare Committee and Council reports along with suitable recommendations for review by the Manager and Director. Manage the preparation of documentation (designs, tenders, and specifications) for Arboriculture projects and supervise contractors performing agreed works and services, including tree maintenance. The desired applicant will have a bachelor's degree in Arboriculture or a related field coupled with qualifications and proven experience in arboriculture operations. Current Driver Licence and Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card are a requirement of this role. You will have a can-do attitude and want to work in a friendly team environment.
