Role
The incumbent will be required to provide valuation advice and undertake complex, urgent and sensitive valuations for government agencies whilst leading a team of valuers. Developing a strong working relationship with both internal and external stakeholders is essential.

Position Accountabilities
1. Provide valuations, train and advise a team of in-house valuers on technical and legal implications and advise staff on legislative and valuations practices and techniques.
2. Provide expert advice to the Valuer-General and the industry on the legislation and valuation practice.
3. Undertake difficult and complex valuations, complicated by sensitivity of legal issues.
4. Manage their team of valuers to deliver outcomes in their specialist area and in particular valuations for government projects.
5. Undertake, negotiate and resolve disputes to finalise and derive satisfactory outcomes of valuations.
6. Brief executives and government on specialist valuations issues and represent their valuations at inquiries or court proceedings as required.
7. Participate in mediations with valuers with the purpose of resolving differences and achieving agreement regarding valuation issues.
8. Drive policy development in relation to specialty.
9. Review policies, practices and legislation and contribute to the improvements therein.
10. To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.
To be successful in this role, you will be adept at critical thinking and problem solving, using deep understanding or consultation to resolve issues. Proficiency in digital and technological literacy, including tools like Microsoft Office and awareness of megatrends such as the Internet of Things and cybersecurity, is essential. You will communicate with impact, ensuring clarity and maintaining attention, even when dealing with difficult or sensitive topics. Effective stakeholder engagement and adding value for clients is crucial, as is the ability to manage and motivate a high-performing team.
On a personal level, you will be skilled at working collaboratively, fostering a supportive and cooperative team environment, and engaging with other teams to share information and address issues. You will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, comfortably accepting changed priorities, responding quickly to changes, and working effectively with teams outside your own organisation.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
11. Completion of an appropriate tertiary qualification with Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) status and membership with the Australian Property Institute (API).
12. Knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1960, Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986, Planning and Environment Act 1987 and other relevant legislation.
13. Knowledge of the government processes and land administration matters.
14. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 certification.
