Appointment Type: Part-time (0.2 FTE, 7 hours per week)
Salary: Level C: $142,646 - $160,878 (pro-rata) + 17% Superannuation

About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified medical professional with academic experience and strong clinical and professional networks in the Southern Highlands Region. The Senior Lecturer (Surgery) is a teaching-intensive position focusing on clinical teaching, curriculum development, and implementation for the GSM. You will also leverage your networks to broaden teaching opportunities for medical students within their workplace/location and across the GSM’s rural and regional partner healthcare facilities across NSW.
About You:
To be successful, you will be a qualified medical graduate eligible for unconditional registration as a medical practitioner in NSW, with a current or anticipated appointment as a consultant specialist surgeon at Bowral and District Hospital and/or Southern Highlands Private Hospital. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. You will have a demonstrated ability to teach at introductory and intermediate levels, along with experience in curriculum development and assessment. Additionally, you will be able to develop and implement teaching programs, engage clinical academic staff, and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, students, and stakeholders.

Special Job Requirements:
* Must have a current or anticipated appointment as a consultant surgeon with Bowral and District Hospital and/or Southern Highlands Private Hospital.
* Be a qualified medical graduate eligible for unrestricted registration in New South Wales (without conditions on registration) as an FRACS.
* Actively engage with the relevant professional networks in the region to effectively perform the duties of the position.
* It is a requirement that the position holder resides rurally in a MM2+ region.
* As this position requires attendance at Public Health Facilities, the position holder must comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (PG1) Policy Directive (PD2024_015).
* Continuing Contingent: Refer to section 21 of the University of Wollongong (Academic Staff) Enterprise Agreement, 2023: This position forms part of the RHMT funding agreement. Should funding cease and not be renewed, the continuing appointment may be terminated on the basis of the contingency.
