The Team:
The newly commissioned Operating Theatre complex consists of two Endoscopy, two General Theatres, Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and a Day Surgery Unit (DSU). Currently functioning in two theatres each day, with an uplift to increase to three theatres in the coming months. The regional theatres for the Northwest, providing surgical services for minor general, gynaecology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, urology and dental procedures for the North and Northwest. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
Within established guidelines and procedures, as a member of the perioperative team, provide an efficient, effective and safe support service to the Operating Room Suite and Day Procedure Unit, working collaboratively with staff from all areas of the hospital. The Theatre Attendant will promote the principles of quality health care and customer service and foster a positive environment for patient outcomes.
* Under supervision of the Registered Nurse, prepare the operating/procedure room for each procedure, ensuring the relevant furniture, equipment and appliances are at hand and have been checked, maintained and cleaned in accordance with established guidelines and manufacturers’ specifications.
* Provide basic technical assistance and support to nursing and medical staff with the correct and safe use of mechanical and biomedical equipment.
* Under direct supervision of, and in collaboration with, medical and nursing staff, using correct manual handling techniques, assist with correct, safe and dignified positioning of patients and specialised positioning equipment and perform preoperative hair removal as directed.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 24 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $67,193 to $70,993 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
