The Location:
Based in one of Australia's largest cities, this location has it all! This is a fantastic base from which to explore the many treasures of the surrounding region, including historic townships, natural wonders, beautiful coastlines, and the famous Snowy Mountains.
The Facility:
This is an acute care teaching hospital of approximately 600 beds and a tertiary referral centre that provides a broad range of specialist services to the local and regional community. This is the largest public hospital in the region, supporting a population of almost 540,000, with strong links to community-based services that provide continuity of care for patients. The hospital is also the principal teaching hospital of the region with close links to the 17th best university in the world and number one in Australia. The Department of General Medicine manages patients with a diverse range of multiple active co-morbidities or undifferentiated illnesses under the age of 80 years that require ongoing inpatient, ward-based hospital care. A busy inpatient service with consultation and outpatient clinic responsibilities.
The Role:
They use a team approach to address the needs of patients and their carers, and work with health professionals across all health settings bringing knowledge, skills, and expertise to enhance the care they provide. The palliative care teams include palliative care medical specialists, specialist nurses, specialist social workers, pastoral care, and volunteers. Our client is looking to expand the department by taking on a Palliative Care Consultant on a 1.0 FTE.
The Requirements:
You must hold the FRACP and/or be eligible to obtain it via training from NZ, UK, Ireland, USA, or Canada.
