As Quality Assurance specialist you will join a small and dedicated team responsible for ensuring that seafood products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves implementing quality management systems, conducting audits, and leading initiatives to enhance overall quality across operations. Client Details Our client, a family owned and operated business for over 50 years based in the heart of Footscray are looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to join their small dedicated and friendly team. Description Key Responsibilities: -Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems ensuring compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, SQF, PRIMESAFE, FSANZ). -Monitor and analyze quality metrics to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement within the seafood processing line. -Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits, ensuring effective communication and cooperation throughout the process. -Review product labels for compliance with food labelling regulations, ensuring accuracy and clarity in ingredient listings, allergen declarations, and nutritional information. -Ensure the product integrity and compliance to the product specifications at all times in manufacturing and implement set of Standard Operating Procedure's required, including food safety procedures. -Conduct regular internal and external audits of facilities, processes, and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. -Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, procurement, and logistics) to develop and execute quality improvement projects. -Train and mentor staff on quality processes, food safety protocols, and best practices in seafood handling and processing. -Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues related to product quality, implementing corrective actions as necessary. -Prepare and present quality reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations for improvement. -Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and advancements in seafood quality management. Profile Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field. -Certifications in quality management systems (e.g., Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, HACCP certification) are highly desirable. -Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within the food manufacturing industry. -Experience in reviewing and approving product labels for compliance with food labelling regulations. -In-depth knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, FSANZ, PRIMESAFE,SQF etc.) -Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. -Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and other document management tools for effective documentation and reporting. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.
