About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join a Sydney based project. This permanent role will report into the Finance Manager on the project and be responsible for providing quality accounting services to support the project and meet management and statutory accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing support and assist the project, regional and corporate staff with all project-accounting related issues.
* Preparation of the Participant Organization monthly progress claims.
* Assist in the preparation of the monthly reporting of project positions, management reports, forecasts, reconciliations, lodgements, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations, legislation and accounting standards.
* Manage Alliance related recharge accounts ensuring they are reconciled and tracked on a monthly basis.
* Prepare and post journals for re-allocation and correction of WBS costing in accordance with Alliance policies and procedure.
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations with proper supporting documentation; process receipts and chase up invoices.
* Assist with the projects quarterly external audits, with pulling together and review of audit documentation and escalation of queries.
* Undertake financial analysis, evaluation, and reporting to support business decisions.
* Assist commercial and project teams with queries in respect of the detailed information behind the transactions in job cost ledgers.
* Liaise with and build working relationships with Business Units, Joint Ventures & Alliances, Site Staff, other Corporate Overhead functions, Accounts Payable and Payroll teams.
About You
* Strong attention to detail, commercial acumen and understanding of stakeholder needs.
* Ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines even when under pressure.
* Listens to others, acknowledges their views, seeks ideas and feedback from others.
* One team approach ensuring to support team members.
* Degree in Accounting / Finance.
* Studying towards or newly qualified with a membership with CPA Australia (CPA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA).
* Experience in Microsoft packages and COINS ERP system.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercial environment and undertaking management reporting forecast.
* Experience working for Tier 1 & 2 Construction or Infrastructure Contractors in an Alliance contract model.
