The opportunity:
Parliamentary Services is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our payroll department, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees.
The challenge:
1. Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll for approximately 740 employees.
2. Reconciliation and allocation of the budget for fortnightly payroll across different outputs within the Parliamentary Service.
3. Guidance to members, management, and staff regarding various compensation benefits, as well as policy and procedural mandates.
4. Prepare documentation related to Legislative Assembly Members' salaries and allowances.
5. Arrange HR correspondence, including letters of offer, appointments, and parental leave matters.
6. Collaborate with the Shared Services Client agency (Office of the Governor) on relevant documentation.
Your expertise:
7. High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
8. Self-motivated and capable of working independently to resolve payroll-related issues.
9. Proficiency in payroll systems (Aurion).
10. Understanding of legislation and award interpretation within the Parliamentary Service and Queensland Public Sector.
11. Intermediate excel skills for effective data management.
12. Ability to meet strict deadlines.
13. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
14. Minimum of 5 years' proven experience as a payroll officer in a similar-sized organisation.
